The College of Canons
This body brings opinion and questions from across Worcestershire and the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley. It is designed to ensure that the Cathedral hears from parishes in all parts of the Diocese. The College of Canons is chaired by the Dean and includes Residentiary Canons, Lay Canons, Honorary Canons and Monastic Canons. Ecumenical Canons are also appointed from other Christian churches who, though not officially members of the College, are invited to attend and participate and may use the title Canon.
In addition to their role in the life of the Cathedral, whenever a new Bishop of Worcester is to be appointed the College meets to formally elect the candidate nominated by the King.
