Festive Flourished Italics Calligraphy Workshop
This one day calligraphy course is suitable for all levels, from beginners to students with some previous calligraphy experience.
After a welcome cup of tea or coffee, the morning session will teach and develop the basics of the Italic style using tutor exemplars to work from and traditional script pens. There will be reference to the historical origins of the script as well as examples of contemporary work to inspire your progress.
In the afternoon session we will look at developing fluency of script and learn how to add flourishes to letterforms. You will be able to write out a short piece of text to develop as a finished piece. One or two lines is fine. This may be from a favourite poem, prayer, motto or saying.
All necessary materials are provided within the course fee (£45) including pens, papers and water- based gouache inks. Try silver and gold for a festive feel!
Tutor :Dr Elizabeth Beattie is a fine artist/calligrapher and art historian. She is an experienced tutor with an Advanced diploma in Calligraphy.
