Acrylic Adventures Painting Workshop
Enjoy a day of painting introducing acrylics, inspired by skyscapes, landscapes and summer blossom. This one-day course for adult learners is suitable for all levels from beginners to more experienced artists. Perhaps you have enjoyed art previously and would like to renew your experience or you may be interested in further developing painting skills. Whatever your starting point, there will be plenty of one-to-one tuition and group demonstrations to help you.
After a welcome cup of tea or coffee, the workshop will begin with tuition in basic drawing and painting techniques to help you to compose a painting. The course includes reference to major artists of the western tradition including Monet and van Gogh with an oriental twist in the foliage painting and gilding of Japanese screens. Acrylic paints will be used with advice on colour mixing and application. Acrylics are user-friendly and versatile and can be applied as thin as watercolour or thicker, with the texture of oils. Good quality colour reproductions are available to inspire your work as well as acrylic painting paper and small canvases.
Course fee: £45 including all painting and drawing materials. All fees to be paid on the day of the course by cheque, cash or bank transfer. There are 12 places available.
Tutor: Dr Elizabeth Beattie is a Fine Art graduate and Art historian. She is an experienced artist and tutor and regularly teaches workshops and short courses.
