Creative Capitals Calligraphy Workshop
Enjoy this experimental calligraphy workshop exploring both traditional and contemporary capital letterforms. The workshop is suitable both for adults who are beginners or who have had some previous experience of calligraphy.
After a welcome tea or coffee, the morning session will focus on the familiar capital letters of the Roman alphabet, how they were constructed, how they can be grouped by shape and pattern and how they later developed into attractive forms such as Versals.
You will be able to experiment with traditional script pens, brush lettering, pencil sketched letters and calligraphic marker pens with tuition in using all the materials and good examples of letterforms provided.
In the afternoon session you can create an original piece of calligraphy inspired by capital letterforms, ready to mount and take home.

Tutor: Dr Elizabeth Beattie is a Fine artist and Art historian. She has a CLAS advanced diploma in calligraphy and regularly teaches workshops and short courses.
