Beethoven: Choral Symphony

Saturday 9 May 2026 | 7.30pm

Known in the county for its thrilling performances, the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra is bringing Beethoven’s 9th (“Choral”) Symphony to Worcester Cathedral.

Conducted by Keith Slade, they will be joined by a full chorus of local singers, and four soloists, as the symphony draws to its titanic conclusion.

The Orchestra, founded by Sir Edward Elgar himself, will also perform the ever-popular Brahms Violin Concerto, with soloist Katy Smith, and the famous anthem of British composer Sir Hubert Parry, I Was Glad, which featured in the coronation of King Charles III.

Because of the scale of Beethoven’s last and greatest symphony it is likely not to be performed frequently in the area. So this is a concert not to be missed.
