Anti-Slavery Chains Exhibition

Friday 14 - Friday 21 October 2022
Friday 14 - Friday 21 October 2022

A poignant display of anti-slavery chains will be exhibited in the trees on the green in College Yard from Friday 14 - Friday 21 October to mark Anti-Slavery Week and Anti-Slavery Day.

The brightly multicoloured knitted chains serve as a reminder to us all that modern day slavery still exists and is present within our communities. Sadly, it often goes unnoticed.

During the week, along with the knitted chains there will also be a display of paper chains inside the Cathedral containing prayers, messages of hope and calls to action. These chains will be created by congregational members attending services at the Cathedral on Sunday 16 October.

There will also be an information stand, promoting the work of the Clewer Initiative (a national organisation that enables the Church of England and wider church networks to develop strategies to detect modern day slavery in their communities and help provide victim support and care). The stand will provide more information about the campaign and what you can actively do to help and make a difference.

Even one small action could change or save the life of someone in desperate circumstances.

The Anti-Slavery Chains exhibition is a partnership project between the Diocese of Worcester Mothers' Union and our learning team. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the project possible by providing knitted chains.
